This site provides current events and news articles that are tailored to students’ specific reading levels.  District students in 6th-12th grade should use their district login information to access.  Parents of students in 2nd through 5th grade, please follow the instructions below:

 

1.        Go to newsela.com.

2.        Click Join Now.

3.        Newsela will ask you a few questions about your role and your school:

4.        If you are a teacher, parent, or administrator please select I’m an Educator for full access to your subscription. (Selecting “I’m a student”’ will restrict access to features and content.)

Once you've logged in, you'll want to create a class and add your child so you can begin assigning articles or simply have your child browse Newsela freely:

1.        Go to Classes by clicking your name in the upper right-hand corner, clicking on Settings  and selecting the Classes tab.

2.        Click Create a Class.

3.        Enter the class name, grade, and subject, then click Create Class.
