Teaching Philosophy
Mr. Jamelli's Teaching Philosophy
I believe that anytime a lesson can be analogous to a real world situation, a student will build a stronger attachment to the lesson and be more likely to truly learn.
I believe that a variety of techniques can be used to reach students. Some students learn auditorily, some visually, others kinesthetically - by utilizing different techniques, students can be exposed to the same course materials in different ways, creating a higher probability of true learning.
I believe in a variety of assessment tools and evaluations. Taking tests is an important skill for students to have, but I also believe that students can benefit from projects, exhibits, portfolios, and team work. A variety of evaluations can give a teacher a true outlook into each student's learning.
I believe in a supportive learning environment. I don't think students benefit from coming to a classroom where they feel uncomfortable, scared, or nervous. I believe it is the teacher's ultimate responsibility to create an atmosphere conducive to learning for all students.
